Abstract

Social and psychological realities of today require competitive specialist, capable of willful, conscious control and adequate response to the impact of the environment, aware of their role and responsibility for the process of interpersonal relationships to acquire professional identity. Assertive behavior is the result of effective development of the individual, which is gained under the influence of social environment on the one hand and psychological self-improvement in the interaction of the individual with society — on the other. That is why social-psychological factors of forming assertive behavior in students-psychologists occupy strategic points in the process of professional development, given the specificity of student age. In our study, we determined the social and psychological factors: the level of professional identity, sociometric status in the student group, socio-psychological climate.

In terms of professional identity assertive behavior is identified with a sense of achieving goals, and treated as a separate component of consciousness or «self image» dimension, along with the stability, self-esteem and crystallization. According to sociometric status assertive behavior cannot be considered outside the interaction with other actors, that is, outside the social context, as individual leadership of each team member depends on the ability to interact with others, which is reflected in interpersonal communication.

The study stated the dependence of assertiveness on the socio-psychological factors: peculiarities of students’ perception of attitudes of them, their status in the team of peers.
