Abstract

The actual problem of training future social sphere specialists is the problem of professional intelligence formation. The success of professional training and the efficiency of professional activity of future social sphere specialists are much determined by individual and psychological qualities of students, by features of their intellectual and personal areas. The general mental abilities are an important prerequisite of professional intelligence of future social sphere specialist’s formation, as they ensure the ability of efficient and creative working in the future profession. Professional intelligence undergoes its formation in the process of intellectual activity, which is determined by obtaining specific professional knowledge, skills and abilities, by mental processing and classification of professional experience, and by formation of professionally valuable intellectual qualities.

From the standpoint of modern psychology, the general mental abilities of an individual are interpreted as the capacity to knowledge, which ensures success of training and determines the efficiency of any activity, and manifests in quality, speed and precision of mental problems solving, tempo and success of training, productivity of activity, and the level of social adaptation. The general mental abilities ensure the means for successful training, since they base on cognitive processes development.

The experimental study has revealed the dominance of middle level of integral and partial indicators of general mental abilities of future social sphere specialists. In the context of such results the question of general mental abilities of future social sphere specialist’s development as a prerequisite of formation of their professional intelligence clearly arises.
