PECULIARITIES OF EMOTIONAL REACTIONS OF MOTHERS WHO BRING UP CHILDREN WITH PSYCHOPHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS

Today mother and child relationship is an important area of research not only in a special psychology. Development of conceptual bases, theoretical and methodological framework and methods of psychocorrectional work allows to provide substantial assistance to parents of children with developmental disabilities. Special assistance is necessary for parents to neutralize the psychological problems arising from their personal experiences associated with the impaired development of their children. The purpose of the article: To investigate the features of emotional reacting of mothers which bring up children with psychophysical impairments. We designed the complex of psychodiagnostical methods to assess the peculiarities of emotional sphere of mothers, bringing up children with psychophysical impairments and to compare them with the peculiarities of emotional sphere of mothers, bringing up healthy children. It included the method of «Differential emotion scales of K. Izard» the method of «Self-estimation of the emotional state» (A. Wessman and D. Ricks) and the questionnaire «Emotional orientation» (B. I. Dodonov). The emotional state of mothers whose children suffer from psychophysical impairments differ. Mothers, bringing up children with cerebral palsy characterize with nervousness, irritability, anxiety and restlessness, frustration and helplessness with mild fatigue. Mothers of children with retardations of mental development show nervousness, irritability, anxiety, fatigue, lack of energy, helplessness and depression. Mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders have frustration, concern, uncertainty with fears, easy fatigue and lack of energy, constraints of skills and abilities. While the emotional state of mothers of healthy children was much better and was defined with spontaneity, absence of significant problems; feelings of «freshness», vivacity, sense of comparative order and competence. With more precise differentiation of emotional problems of mothers bringing up children with psychophysical impairments, we can improve the quality of assistance provided to the families for their successful socialization and adaptation in society.References
