COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE COPING STRATEGIES OF SURGEONS AND INTERNS OF SURGICAL DEPARTMENT

Abstract

Aim of article. Do the comparative analysis of coping-strategies of surgeons and interns of surgical department.

As part of our research it was defined that professional activity of surgeons is characterized by defining of professional demands to psychological activity and professional development of a person and it has the important influence on the development of coping strategy of a specialist. To our mind surgeons must work with the development of personal qualities by the way of self-education and then they will become the real surgeons. So, the influence of personal facts on formation of coping strategy as constructive vectors of overcoming of stressful situation is the main condition of professionalization of surgeons.

So, the development and functioning of coping strategy in professional activity of surgeon are complicated and dynamic process of a person. As the professional activity of a surgeon is accompanied by emotional stress by conditions of work and is characterized by demanding of conditions to physic activity and professional development of specialist.

We used empirical research methods and comparative statistical analysis in our scientific work. We have determined that actual coping-strategies of surgeons is selfcontrol (42 %), responsibility (67 %) and use of psychoactive substances (56 %); as for interns of surgical department, for young professionals actual coping-strategies is avoidance (58 %) and positive redefinition (62 %). We think that the results of the investigation are due to experience of work of surgeons, peculiarities of the perception of stressful situations of specialist and development of coping-strategies in the ontogeny of surgeons.

Prospects of further investigation. Based on the obtained results of the investigation we want empirically examine the relationship coping-strategies and psychological defense mechanisms among surgeons and interns of surgical department.
