Abstract

This article describes ways to optimize the «Maritime English» teaching process. We believe that teaching «maritime English» will be successful if the formation of foreign language competence will be based on an analysis of its components and factors of its formation, levels and criteria of its formation, which enables identification of ways and technology development.

Psyco-pedagogical conditions for successful «maritime English» teaching are:

– formation of foreign language competence according to its structural components;

– target points of teaching are the development of such determinants: psy-linguistic perception of speech, building scenarios of intercultural interaction, building strategies of communication, thinking towards protection from risks of navigation, desire to sicialize, observing moral norms;

– focus training on the use of foreign language in an international crew;

– education of sustainable motivation for learning and self-development; expand socio-perception of reality;

– simulations of future foreign language communicative activities of seafarers;

– active use of Psy information in teaching process;

– use linguistic learning material about countries seafarers from which mostly will be presented in international crews.
